Why Did Paul Write 1st Timothy?

1 Timothy 3:15 states: “These things I write to you, though I hope to come to you shortly; but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar, and ground of the truth.”

Paul wrote 1st Timothy to Timothy because Timothy was Paul’s spiritual son in the faith (1 Timothy 1:2). Timothy needed to be strengthened and encouraged to keep standing in the grace of God as an evangelist (2 Timothy 2:1). He was to conduct himself in the house (or temple) of God, which is the church of the living God. The temple of God serves as the light to this dark and evil world in showing forth the true God.
