"Did you see what was on the screen?" - Joey Ferrell

The stadium was packed.

It was a hot summer night with a lot of emotions stirred because of the performance.

Up in the corporate boxes, there were executives of companies, their friends and even some family.

There were men…there were women. Some were married…others not. Some were married, but not to the one they were with.

Then it happened. A man embraced a woman in the suites. There were silent gasps, but most everyone just looked a quick glance and then turned back to the event.

But, there were lives that would be changed forever. Not just the lives of the man and woman, but for others that day and in the near to come future…and even for lifetimes.

You may be thinking about a very recent event that was publicized all over the world, but that wasn’t this incident at all.

You see, about twenty-five years ago, a very similar situation happened. It wasn’t a concert, but an early fall football game. The setting was similar, but the “players” were different. One was indeed a corporate executive, but the other was known very well by their family.

In those days, there were jumbo-trons, and kiss cams, but this event did not unfold on that big of a platform. Yet, it did happen, and many did witness it. Some were not surprised, while others were absolutely bewildered by what had happened.

It didn’t take many days before futures would change. Divorces happened. Families were split apart. Some even left the company not long afterward due to the circumstances of this action, but not the guilty parties…somewhat innocent observers and those who were affected in their jobs by discomfort that came with this sinful behavior.

Fast forward 25 years….an incident was recorded on a cell phone and then populated on every social media outlet known to mankind. The persons involved became famous in ways they never wanted, as well as had life changes that they never expected. Many mocked them. Others made jokes. Some laughed at their situation. A few made threats publicly. It was just horrible. Absolutely horrible to watch unfold and even worse for those who were innocent to live through I can imagine.

So, what is the thought of “exposing” these two incidents in this article? Well, I want to ask a question:

What if your life, your actions and your thoughts were always on a screen for everyone to see?

Can you imagine? Well, maybe we should. Maybe that would help us to “behave” much better at times, live more for God, and be much more understanding of the lives that are changed as a result of sin.

Think about David and Bathsheba. David “thought” his sin was private, and he tried to keep it that way, but look at the lives that were changed because his sins found him out.

Take a look at a couple of bible verses that suggest that no sin is secret…at least from God anyway!

There is no darkness nor shadow of death
Where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves. Job 34:22

For nothing is secret that will not be revealed, nor anything hidden that will not be known and come to light. Luke 8:17

You have set our iniquities before You, Our secret sins in the light of Your countenance. Psalm 90:8

You see…God knows. Every sin, whether large or small will eventually be revealed. Now, don’t get me wrong, it is not my place to stand in judgment; however, the people involved in both of these instances were found out. Even if they had not been, God knew. Their sin was exposed the moment it happened…and maybe even the moment they thought it (cf Acts 8).

What about you and I? Will we be on a jumbotron with our sin? Probably not. Will we be seen by many witnesses when we commit a single sin? Maybe not. But maybe so to both answers. Either way, our sin will be found out!

Do you need to repent of sin and turn away from those things? The good news is that even though those sins are not secret, nor will their consequence ever go away, we can be forgiven and God will remember them against us no more!

Stay faithful. Avoid the devil. Turn from temptation. Be blessed.
