STUDY QUESTIONS FOR 2 corinthians lesson 5 (Chapters 7-9)

  1. In 2 Corinthians 7, Paul revisited something he had discussed in 1 Corinthians 5. What was that “something”?

  2. What was Paul’s purpose in revisiting that issue? What were his additional instructions to the Corinthian Christians concerning this matter?

  3. Judas and Peter both sinned. Both were sorrowful after their sins. What was the differ­ence between the sorrow the two men felt and expressed?

  4. What is “godly sorrow”?

  5. In 2 Corinthians 8:9, Paul urged Christians to give of their time, their talent, and their money when he wrote, “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.” Explain how Jesus “became poor,” and how, through “His poverty,” we “become rich.”

  6. In Malachi 3:8-9, the prophet said (speaking for God), “You have robbed Me!” How had the people “robbed God”?

14. Paul closes 2 Corinthians 9 in verse 15 when he says, “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift.” What was the gift? And how can we adequately thank God?
