RADIO SPOTS!
In the September 30 edition of this newsletter we proudly announced one of our newest projects—the production of 3-minute spots for use on radio stations in English-speaking countries. Initially, we decided to begin by writing enough lessons to allow spots to run Monday through Friday every week of the year. We will be releasing the spots for distribution on a month-by-month basis. As we reported in our first announcement about this project, the spots cover a variety of topics under different category headings such as:
- "Did You Know That...?"
- "Faith"
- "How Much Do You Know About the Bible?"
- "Have You Ever Wondered About...?"
- "What Is Right with the Church of Christ?"
We are posting all of the radio spots to a special section of our Website, which you can visit by clicking on the following link: 3 Minute Audio Page. At the end of September we posted the first group of spots (covering the month of October). The spots for November and December are now available on our Website. If you would like to listen to one of the programs, click on a specific date and the 3-minute spot associated with that date will stream from our Website to your computer, just as our 30-minute audio programs do. Our plan is to add spots for future months by the last day of the current month. As we announced previously, the 3-minute spots have intentionally been produced in what we refer to as "associated groups of five," which means that each set of five spots covers a single subject or related group of subjects so that if a person was to hear all five spots Monday through Friday, he or she would be able to detect a distinct "flow" to the material. However, the spots also have been produced so that each individual lesson stands on its own merit, and makes sense even if a person has not heard any (or all) of the previous spots. Plus, the spots also have been designed to be evangelistic in nature. The plan of salvation is alluded to frequently throughout the spots so that listeners cannot help but learn what to do to obey the Gospel.
We are encouraging congregations to place these daily spots on their local radio stations. In the past, various churches have taken our 30-minute weekly programs to their local radio stations to see if the stations might be able to air them at no cost. As a result, our programs have aired without any cost to the church (or to us). Also, since most congregations have now entered their budget-preparation stages for 2009, we hope you will consider including in your new budget some funds to pay for additional air time for these new 3-minute daily spots as an evangelistic tool.
We are making these radio spots available completely free of charge. If you would like to receive a CD containing the lessons we have produced to date, simply contact us by mail, e-mail, or telephone with your request, and we will be happy to send you that CD.
