BACK TO THE
EVANGELISM SERIES
FINAL TWO LESSONS NOW ONLINE
In three previous e-newsletters (January 24th, February 20th, and May 29th), we announced the availability of the first six lessons in our new Evangelism Series of videos. We are now pleased to announce the last two lessons (numbers seven and eight) in that series:
"Objections to Baptism "
"Be Faithful Unto Death"
In his lesson on "Objections to Baptism," Ben Bailey examines ten different objections that have been set forth by people who do not accept biblical teaching regarding baptism being essential for a person's salvation. Those objections are:
- Baptism is a work.
- Salvation is by "faith only."
- The thief on the cross was saved without baptism.
- Jesus forgave people's sins even though they were not baptized.
- Baptism is not listed as a condition for condemnation in Mark 16:16.
- The word "for" in Acts 2:38 does not mean "in order to receive," but means "because you have already received."
- Paul did not preach baptism when he presented the Gospel.
- Acts 2:21 teaches that "whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."
- The "sinner's prayer" is what saves us, not baptism.
- We are saved by the blood of Jesus, not by baptism.
In Ben's lesson, he systematically examines each of these proposed objections in light of the Scriptures, and shows why each one is incorrect. As Ben ends his remarks, he urges every accountable person to set aside personal emotions and opinions, and instead to ask one simple question: "When it comes to our salvation, what does the Bible say?" Excellent advice.
In his lesson, "Be Faithful Unto Death," Ben begins by observing, "One of the greatest challenges that a new Christian can face is staying faithful unto death." Ben then sets out to ask and answer four basic questions:
(1) Does Jesus demand our faithfulness?
(2) Does the Bible teach us about certain hindrances to faithfulness?
(3) What does it really mean to "be faithful"?
(4) What are some motivations for us to be faithful to God? (or, what encouragements do we possess that can keep us "in The Faith"?).
The remainder of Ben's remarks are intended to answer each of those questions, and by doing so, to show individual Christians how to "be faithful unto death." At the close of his lesson, Ben lists several "motivations for faithfulness" that can strengthen the faith of every Christian. Included in his list are such things as the hope of Heaven, the knowledge that the Judgment Day is coming, the reality of Hell, and the amazing love of God. This particular lesson is filled with practical, biblical advice that can help each Christian remain faithful. It also is extremely encouraging.
Both of these lessons (plus the six previous lessons in our Evangelism Series) are available on our Website, where you will find them in video, audio, and written transcript formats. We invite you to take advantage of them and to share them with others. |
